Zimmer Holdings Inc. recently released the TM Ardis Interbody System, a porous metal interbody implant for lumbar spine, in Europe.

According to a company press release, the TM Ardis is indicated for use as an intervertebral body fusion device at one or two contiguous levels in the lumbosacral region in the treatment of degenerative disc disease. It features a large surface area available for biologic fixation and an updated, anatomical shape which allows the implant to be inserted into the disc space more easily. The system is implanted using a posterior or transforaminal approach and is intended to be used singly or in pairs with supplemental fixation.

“The TM Ardis Interbody System is the latest innovation from Zimmer Spine, and we are excited to make this unique implant available to European surgeons and their patients,” Steve Healy, president of Zimmer Spine, stated in the release. “This system, which incorporates trabecular metal technology, is truly differentiated and we are confident it will offer clinical advantages in the treatment of degenerative disc disease.”
