KOHALA COAST, Hawaii — Mechanical alignment in total knee arthroplasty should be aimed at the center third of the knee, but the alignment may differ from patient to patient, according to a presenter at Orthopedics Today Hawaii here.
“At the end of the day we really do not know precisely where the mechanical axis should go. For each individual patient, that alignment may be slightly different,” Robert T. Trousdale, MD, an Orthopedics Today Editorial Board member, stated in his presentation.
