B+L contact lens recycling program gains momentum

Bausch + Lomb announced that more than 180,000 units of used contact lenses and blister packs have been recycled through its #ONEbyONE recycling program.

More than 1,800 optometry offices have signed up to recycle used contact lenses and blister packs through the free program, developed by Bausch + Lomb, in collaboration with TerraCycle, according to a Bausch + Lomb press release.

Through the #ONEbyONE recycling program, contact lens wearers can recycle their used Biotrue OneDay contact lenses and blister packs, as well as other contact lenses and blister packs at no cost to them.

This program is the first sponsored contact lens recycling program from Bausch + Lomb and Terra Cycle, and for each pound of waste that is recycled through the program, Bausch + Lomb will make a $1 donation to Optometry Giving Sight.
