Pinhole effect shows good early results in IC-8 IOL

MILAN — Preliminary results of a post-market trial with the AcuFocus IC-8 small aperture IOL in Europe show that the lens improves near and intermediate vision, while maintaining good distance vision.

“The concept comes from the Kamra inlay, which has proved that the pinhole effect is an easy, successful way of addressing presbyopia without competing focal points that degrade image quality and contrast sensitivity,” Matteo Piovella, MD, said at the annual joint meeting of Ocular Surgery News and the Italian Society of Ophthalmology.
