SAN DIEGO — CIBA Vision has “temporarily halted production of all lens care products due to some human error and lack of production processes,” Karen Gough, president of CIBA Vision’s Americas Region, said here at a press conference during the American Academy of Optometry meeting.
Ms. Gough said that while there was no product contamination, a nonsterile lubricant was used to transport bottles in the company's Canadian facility. Production will resume early in 2006, and full production will resume by mid-year, she said.
“We are very committed to the lens care business,” said Ms. Gough. “In fact, we will re-introduce a brand in April.”
