Aloha from Aurelia at 22 degrees, 8 minutes north, and 154 degrees, 30 minutes west at 9 a.m., Sunday May 27.
We are now about 190 miles from Honolulu. About 40 more hours to go.
It’s clear that we’re now in the tropics. There’s more bird life every day, a lot more humidity, and a brilliant sunrise this morning through towering tropical clouds. Trade winds are still brisk at 30 knots, but Aurelia is galloping along with more stability than you would expect from a 24-foot sailboat on the high seas.
Mahalo from Aurelia and the Hawaiian Eye foundation.
John’s voyage is meant to raise awareness of the similar “expedition” surgeons undertake when converting to electronic health records and will also support the work of the Hawaiian Eye Foundation.
