Abstract

To the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses, Inc.:

The American Board for Occupational Health Nurses, Inc. (ABOHN) is proud to extend heart-felt congratulations to AAOHN on its 70th anniversary.

Your long and proud history has helped nurture outstanding leaders, progressive thinkers, and dedicated professionals. The various recognition programs you offer have inspired occupational health professionals around the globe to shape policy and advance the field of occupational health and safety.

AAOHN’s commitment to excellence is proven by the wealth of benefits your organization provides to the occupational health community, including networking opportunities, a peer-reviewed journal, continuing education programs, and your website—rich with up-to-date information on pressing issues affecting occupational health matters. All these things and more have made AAOHN an internationally recognized leader for occupational health information.

Your 70th anniversary is more than a celebration of the past—it is a starting point for the future.

We at ABOHN are proud of our partnership with you and look forward to even closer collaboration in the future. Congratulations on your historic milestone. We wish you further success for many years to come.

American Board for Occupational Health Nurses, Inc., 2011–2012 Board of Directors and Staff

To the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses, Inc.:

I am especially pleased to acknowledge and congratulate AAOHN on its 70th anniversary as a professional organization.

As President of ERYAN Associates since 1985 and Executive Director of the National Association of Occupational Health Professionals since its founding in 1990, I have made a career commitment to occupational health. During my 30-year involvement with this specialty, I have witnessed a compelling transition from a quiet workplace-based approach to a new paradigm that is dynamic and far reaching. As things continue to evolve rapidly in the future, I believe that occupational health nurses will be in the forefront in the redefinition and delivery of occupational health services.

AAOHN has been and will continue to be an indispensable force in the nation’s health care system.

To the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses, Inc.:

The National Safety Council (NSC) congratulates AAOHN on its 70th anniversary. As the largest group of health care professionals serving the workplace, NSC greatly appreciates all the work of AAOHN to protect worker health and well-being.

Workplace safety is one of the key initiatives of NSC, as it has been since we were established nearly 100 years ago. Incredible strides have been made in workplace safety throughout the last century. Within the past two decades alone, workplace fatality rates have decreased by 35%.

When it comes to occupational safety, NSC believes organizations of every size are on a continuous Journey to Safety Excellence. NSC supports our partner safety and health professionals in our joint efforts to help save more lives and prevent more injuries.

Efforts such as those provided by AAOHN to educate and provide resources to occupational and environmental health nurses help organizations advance on their Journeys and make a difference. AAOHN also clearly understands that promoting safety is not only the right thing to do, but also a sound business decision for employers worldwide. Providing a safe and healthy work environment allows an organization to maximize its productivity.

As we look toward the future of safety, we believe it will be critical to continue to work with organizations such as AAOHN to help the work force bring their safety knowledge home to their families and communities, where injuries and illnesses continue to occur. Safety is a 24/7 pursuit, and we know that AAOHN understands the value of prevention on all fronts. NSC looks forward to continually improving safety through collaborative efforts with premier organizations such as yours.

To the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses, Inc.:

On behalf of the Board and members of the United States Bone and Joint Initiative, our heartfelt congratulations to AAOHN on its 70th anniversary.

AAOHN and many members have been a force within the Bone and Joint Decade, helping to raise awareness of musculoskeletal disorders, especially in the workplace with sessions of Fit to a T, the public education program on bone health and osteoporosis. We are tremendously proud of our partnership with you on this program. Dozens of sessions have been held nationwide and we hope for many more over the coming years.

You have kindly invited us to your annual meetings to showcase Fit to a T. These events have been filled with energy and enthusiasm, and everyone has been so cheerful and welcoming. It is always such a pleasure to work with occupational health nurses.

Having seen AAOHN’s members in action, it is not surprising that you have reached your 70th anniversary. You will surely have many more anniversaries to celebrate.
