Vaccines to confront new and emerging respiratory diseases

BALTIMORE — Gregory A. Poland, MD, director of the Mayo Clinic's Vaccine Research Group, highlights topics that will be covered at the 16th Annual Conference on Vaccine Research, including the role of vaccines in light of new and emerging respiratory diseases.

Poland also discusses sessions on universal influenza vaccines, a new adenovirus vaccine and live attenuated vaccines. Other sessions included discussions of tuberculosis, malaria and Dengue vaccines, antigen presentation, immunologic science, as well as ongoing efforts to achieve more effective global vaccine distribution.
