Mindie H. Nguyen, MD, MAS, comments on demographics among hepatitis C patients

ORLANDO, Fla. — Mindie H. Nguyen, MD, MAS, associate professor of medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine, discusses her poster presentation. “High Prevalence of Hepatitis C Virus Infection (HCV) in Asian-Americans in a Community Primary Care Clinic” during Digestive Disease Week 2013.

Along with Hispanics and African-Americans, Nguyen says there is a high prevalence in the Asian population, which is among the fastest growing minority populations in the United States. Asian-Americans do not have traditionally known risk factors for HCV, and many acquire exposures from dentist visits and therapeutic injections.
