  • Integrins play a crucial role in tumor signaling, survival, migration and angiogenesis, making them potent targets for cancer therapy, particularly for gliomas and glioblastomas. Several integrin inhibitors are being studied and have been shown to be effective with minimal side effects. This activity will provide an overview of integrin biology and the role of anti-integrins in the treatment of glioblastomas.

Target Audience: The intended audience for the activities is oncologists, hematologists/oncologists, oncology nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of patients with cancer.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  • Describe the mechanism of action of integrin inhibitors in the treatment of gliomas and glioblastomas.
  • Evaluate preclinical and clinical data on the efficacy and safety of integrin inhibitors.
  • Identify and enroll appropriate patients in suitable ongoing clinical trials that evaluate integrin inhibitors, alone and in combination with other therapies, for the treatment of gliomas and glioblastomas.
