Clearpath Derm announces digital pathology software for dermatologists

Clearpath Derm recently announced the launch of Clearpath 3.0, a digital software solution for dermatopathology.

With the Clearpath 3.0, dermatologists will have real-time access to review and assess whole slide images and patient case information using a tablet, iPad or computer, according to a press release. The Dermpath Lab of Central States (DLCS), a full service dermatopathology laboratory, converts biopsies within 48 hours, which are than accessible through digital cloud storage.

Clearpath 3.0 is powered by Aperio digital pathology slide scanners from Leica Biosystems, according to the release.

“Clearpath allows dermatologists to dramatically curt down on inefficiencies created by the traditional dermatopathology workflow and get critical reports back on their patients faster – improving overall patient care,” Thomas Olsen, MD, a DLCS founder who was involved with the development of Clearpath 3.0, stated in the release.

“Providing dermatologists with digitized glass slides through the Clearpath software is a new paradigm for managing, interpreting and viewing pathology information that connects the complete clinical workflow from simple tracking to quality control all the way to upstream diagnostic process, improving the overall productivity and quality of the entire process,” Puneet Sarin, vice president and general manager of Leica Biosystems Pathology Imaging Business, stated in the release.
