Healthy providers more likely to urge hypertension prevention

Primary care providers’ own behavior was associated with clinical recommendations for hypertension prevention in adult patients, according to study results presented at the American Society of Hypertension Annual Scientific Meeting.

Jing Fang, MD, epidemiologist with the CDC’s Division of Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention, and colleagues studied the association of PCP demographics and personal behaviors with recommendations for adults following a healthy lifestyle for hypertension prevention. The researchers analyzed DocStyles 2012 web-based survey to assess demographics, health-related behaviors, practice setting and hypertension prevention.
