PARIS — Data presented here from the DISCOVER CE mark trial show that use of the Direct Flow Medical transcatheter aortic valve system results in a 99% freedom from all-cause mortality rate at 30 days.
The 18F valve, which features a double-ring design for a tight and durable seal designed to minimize the risk of aortic regurgitation (AR) following transcatheter aortic valve replacement, was implanted in 100 patients with severe aortic stenosis who were considered high risk for surgery. The mean age of patients was 83.1 years, with logistic EuroSCORE of 22.5% and Society of Thoracic Surgeons Score of 9.7%.
