Prospective data from a rapid regional transfer program showed that patients aged at least 80 years who underwent PCI for STEMI had short hospital stays and a high rate of return to their previous living situations.
For the study, researchers gathered prospective data from March 2003 to November 2006 from a program developed by the Minneapolis Heart Institute at Abbott Northwestern Hospital to treat patients from 35 facilities within a 210-mile radius.
